Ivy:

It's me again - Karen. You are so good at this withdrawal thing!!! You mentioned vitamin D. Do you think that vitamin D plays a role in withdrawal? I take supplemental vitamin D to help with osteoprosis (thanks to the steroids) I never thought that maybe it would cause the nausea that I have been having since reducing. What are your thoughts.

Celeste: I am sorry that you are experiencing the dreaded steriod withdrawals too. I have Crohn's disease and a whole host of other issues, but Crohn's and UC are closely related. I took Asacol too. I agree with Ivy that you might have a few hard weeks, but soon the withdrawal effects will go away. I also agree with her that you need to look at other medications like: Remicade, Humira, 6-MP, Imuran. They are not as fast acting as steriods, but they sure keep you away from the side effects of steroids. Ask your doctor and see if he can come up with another alternative to the steriods. I know there are lots of options out there for Crohn's and UC, so don't settle for a medication that doesn't work for you. That's my 2 cents!!! I am wishing you good health! Karen
