I have to say, I find the whole concept of autoimmunity kind of spurious, but thank goodness you've managed to keep breathing all these years. It sounds more like a neurological response you're describing, but that's just from a lay perspective. Must be very frightening when it happens.

If it reciprocates my kind attentions, it will! :-) No steroids (other than suppression test) since summer. I seem to alternate between feeling very suppressed (the past few days) and feeling WIRED. My blood pressure always matches the way I feel, too.
