Subject: I so have to disagree.....and if Mac is St. Mac, then Harm is Pope Harm, please they both aren't perfect, not even going to try to fit this in 600 letters, LOL!! Inside if you please....
In reply to: McMax 's message, "Harm,an explanation" on 02:00:27 03/09/03 Sun

1. Harm has lost everything? He lost flying? Well, the way I see it, Harm may of also committed perjury not only to himself but to the CAG on the carrier, you can't tell me that he didn't before hand that there might be a vision problem....those things don't just appear, once usually has signs of diminished vision. Yet apparently Harm didn't tell anyone, probably thinking it was nothing, and he ended up crashing a 55 million dollar aircraft and killing his RIO. He didn't lose flying, he was grounded due to a physical condition in which he was a danger not only to himself but others in the air.....He has now had corrective surgery, which thankfully has corrected his problem. Yes, Harm lost his father, but Mac also lost her mother. Mac's mother abandonded her at age 15, at the time most girls need the their mother to help them make the transition from teenage girl to womanhood....her Dad was an alcoholic, and pretty abusive, so Mac didn't have an ideal childhood either....

2. Harm has gotten more negative signals? Huh? This is the woman who followed him to Russia....this is the woman who also stood by him at his murder trial....the woman who showed geunine sadness when he left JAG....the woman who LAYED her heart on the line in Sydney, only to be rejected by Saint Harm.....And, the woman who has said out loud that She's In Love with him, something Harm has never been able to articulate to Mac. Should Mac have gone to Mic so quickly? Nope, but maybe because she had been HURT by Harm, she couldn't HURT Mic the same way....she knew of the pain, and didn't want to inflict that pain on anyone else....She left him for Dalton? They weren't dating or anything as of yet, and by the same token, Harm LEFT her for flying, so what's the difference? Oh, because Harm did left its okay, right?

3. Courtroom Behaviour? Harm acted like a total spoiled brat when Mac was Judge, from his initial questioning of AJ to his rolling eyes and his little comments. So he wasn't exactly supportive of her either, and when his turn came, well while I have been very critical of Mac's behaviour in Friendly Fire, it was no WORSE than Harm's actions in Ready or Not. They BOTH were unprofessional, but if you are going to slam Mac, well the Teflon Harm also should be called to carpet for his actions. The Bud situation.....Mac didn't "volunteer" to help Sturgis....he called her as an expert witness, I guess she should've said NO and risk being held in Contempt of Court, just so Harm wouldn't get his nose out of joint. Bud was very wrong in his actions, he should've been punished for falling asleep in court, but he got off very lightly and was actually REWARDED by AJ.

4. Yes, Mac had her character assassinated in People vs. Mac. It was not needed by TPTB, but it was done....at least Mac had an Article 32 hearing and had to face AJ for her transgressions, something Harm has never had to do. Harm committed brig break during his murder trial, he pulled a gun on a guard and guess what? He walked away without any type of punishment, and Mac also supported Harm in this ep, by letting him in her place and representing him and getting him off. So they BOTH have been supportive of each other, its not a one way street like you claim it is.

And if Harm was so supportive, why couldn't he tear himself away from Bobbi Latham when Mac came to his place in that ep? Mac needed him, but all Harm could think about was getting "lucky" with Bobbi Latham, and he couldn't leave her to help Mac. Yes, there are plenty of times that Harm has been there, when Dalton died, talking to her when her father was sick, they BOTH have been there for the other, again, its not a one way street......

Mac and Mic, well while I agree that it never should've of gotten that far, Harm never said anything to Mac about his feelings. She accepted Mic's ring (right hand) after Harm REJECTED her, and again, see above for the reason why IMHO. Mac couldn't hurt Mic like Harm had hurt her, and I honestly think she was going to return Mic's ring, until Mic showed up. Then of course all H*** broke lose. Mac asked Harm again in People Vs. Gunny, and all he had to do was to tell her SOMETHING about his feelings, and she would've not gotten more involved with Mic. And by the time Harm decides to "talk" Mac has made her decision. She never claimed she was "in love" with Mic, but she cared for him, maybe loved him in a way, and gave her word that she would marry him, and she was committed, until Mic left. Mac admitted to Chloe that she didn't love Mic with all her heart, and then a few eps later she admits to Sturgis that she's in love with Harm. Why does Mac run away? Gee, she does go to Harm like he suggests, and guess what? Renee is there! Yes, Harm was in no-win situation, but he also could've taken time away from Renee to talk to Mac, but he didn't. So she leaves, IMHO to clear her head and also give Harm time to think as well, and be with Renee. That's not being selfish, that's realizing that Harm needed to help Renee, which he did. Harm tries to talk in Measure of Men....Mac asks him a pointed question, about if he's willing to give up Renee, and he doesn't answer right away....HELLO!! You cannot expect Mac to pursue things with Harm while he STILL has a gilfriend, which he does cause he and Renee are still together. Harm and Renee should've been OVER before Harm tried to talk to Mac.

Both have communications issues, but BOTH have been SUPPORTIVE of each other, its not only Harm that has offered support. Mac has offered plenty of support, and Harm has been just as snippy to her at times, they both have had their moments. The dead boyfriend comment, calling Dalton a Clown, Mic was Bugme (well that he was LOL!), let's face it, Harm has been plenty rude to Mac as well. So, if you are going to proclaim Mac as St. Mac, then you'd better call Harm St. Harm or Pope Harm, because Mac has at least been punished for her transgressions (maybe too lightly, but at least its been brought up) while Harm just goes on his merry way, disobeying orders, he's also had an affair with a Junior Officer (hmm, that seems to have been forgotten by Harm while he continues to throw Farrow in Mac's face), taking pills from a man's apartment (without a warrant, isn't that illegal?) but from what you are saying, its okay because its Harm.

Again, neither is perfect, both have their great qualities and both have their poor qualities. Both have made mistakes, both have said unkind things to the other, both have been THERE for the other at very low times, sounds exactly like best friends to me!

But if you are going to criticize Mac then you have to be able to criticize Harm as well. Mac is my favorite character, no bones about it, but I criticize her when she does stupid things, just like I do Harm. Mac isn't perfect, far from it, neither is Harm. Both are just humans, doing the best job they can......
