The same theories that apply to rugby, it being a way of "male bonding" applies to all sports. There are saddo massachist qualities which are similarly shared in sports such as boxing, ice hockey and quite possibly mud wrestling. It is the "hands on" approach of rugby that arises the issue of homosexual expression, yet it is mearly the way the game is played. Men get stamped on, get punched whats different from a boxing match or a street fight? I dare you to ask the next person being battered by some idiot in a Gloucester street whether he is achieving homoerotic pleasure from it. Rugby may make you giggle with the "funny men with nice bodies hugging each other" but i agree with tim that to initiate such a ludicrous argument as to it being homosexual is not intelligent nor amusing. The Roman army formed many notorious huddle like formations and this helped them conquer most of Europe, this wasn't an unleashing of 'big gay fun'(im sure they didnt comment on each others shiny helmets during battle) but a quest for power and pride, although on a smaller scale, the same goals each and every sport looks to achieve. Its like a disney version of psychology you've offered. Yet ive shown no intelligence and an awful lot of hypocrisy by wasting my time replying.
