I am on my second day of 24-30 months in braces as well!! I have used wax on the canine(fang) bracket, because my lateral incisor (the tooth right next to the front tooth) is completely behind the canine tooth. Because of this that fang tooth bracket is so far forward, that my lip doesn't clear it, so I use the wax to keep from scratching my lip. My teeth are super-tender too, so I am only eating squishy stuff like mashed potatoes and jello. I am really hoping that the soreness and sensitivity will get better soon. 'Cause I am reallly hungry!!

Also, I have ceramic on top, and the front four brackets don't have the little sticky-out thing for elastics like the other ones do.
