Teeth are very translucent. The bottom part of my upper central incisors does seem a little more translucent than further up the tooth, but I am sure that is attributed to the fact that it is not as thick.

About your other question, I may be wrong but it sounds like one of thise hairline cracks. I think it could also be decalsification, but I'm not sure. You should definitely have it checked by your dentist or orthodontist, whichever comes first.
