Since I had my braces put on I haven't noticed myself having any differences with guys. The first day I went to work with braces one of them was faking a lisp everytime I talked to him but it was all in good fun and we were both laughing. Yesterday I had a pizza eating contest with some guys ( I lost miserably but still had fun!). I had to use a knife and fork of course so I wouldn't get pizza caught in my archwire! I think the way you perceive yourself, not only with braces but EVERYTHING plays a huge role on how perspective dates see you. If you are extremely shy and self conscious about your braces then maybe he will be too. Besides, if someone has a problem with your braces then their love is only skin deep anyhow so the way I figure it, the braces may just help to weed the bad ones out! :)
