I got lingual braces earlier this month. Last week I had to have a baby lateral pulled out in order for the other teeth to move over and fill in the space (I was born without the adult set of the laterals).
After having the tooth pulled the gap was SO big that I was horrified. I went back to my ortho. that same day and he ended up making a fake tooth completely out of bonding material. He bonded this to my front tooth. His plan is to file this down to make it smaller as my teeth realign, and eventually pull it out when the gap closes more so it doesn't look so glaring.
I am in my mid-30's and have always needed braces. I finally decided to go for it this year. I'll be honest with you, it's expensive (my insurance covers nothing) and annoying (eating is hell) but I am determined to stick it out because I know in the end I will be happier.
I am giving you the push you need to go out there and do this. If you have to, take out a loan and make payments. You will not believe how relieved you will feel once you take the first steps. It is like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!
Good luck!!
