I really am beginning to think it depends on how organized and efficient an office is on the late issue thing. So many doctors and dentists keep people waiting long times -- up to an hour sometimes -- but at my ortho I never have to wait longer than five or so minutes, if I'm on time, which I always am. Based on that I believe that making people wait has someething to do with how the office is run, internally, and the vast majority of offices just assume it's OK to make their patients wait and don't "fix" their scheduling problems -- the fact that I have never had to wait on my ortho in the eight months I've been going there testifies that it CAN be done. The question is how to change that perception, because when you're waiting for a dr. or dentist you really are a captive audience and have no power.

i went for my first adjustment and i was late,
>around 15 minutes. it really wasnt my fault (thanks to
>public transit), when i arrived the lady at the front
>desk told me that i missed my appointment and that she
>would have to reschedule me for a later day...i know
>this might seem childish but i feel like she should
>have allowed me to wait...has any one else had this
>experience or was the lady just being rude! There was
>another time i went and this other lady was late and
>they allowed her to wait!
