I have the world's worst teeth when it comes to cavities - every time I see a new dentist they ask if I grew up in a country that doesn't put fluoride in the water (I didn't - I'm Australian). I've always been a good brusher/flosser and I don't eat much junk. I'm told I'm just genetically unlucky. Anyway, I wore braces for six months and brushed three times a day (and flossed/rinsed twice a day) - nothing obsessive, just the normal amount - and I didn't have any white spots or anything. I had one cavity but it wasn't on one of the braced teeth and it was only at a very early stage ... it was picked up on an x-ray.

So if I, who has possibly more fillings than teeth, was okay then chances are you who have never had a cavity will be fine if you just stick to a normal cleaning routine. Be clean but not obsessed!
