I had fairly large extraction gaps which were closed by powerchains. Since the debanding (only 3 weeks ago) I have had gaps reappear where my extractions were, one side is now about 3 mm and the other about 2mm. my ortho used bonded retainers, but only bonded my upper 4 front teeth and the gaps have reappeared next to the bonded teeth. I went back to see him and he said that there was nothing he could do, and it was because the powerchains had pulled the teeth and then when the pressure was released at debanding the teeth have moved back again. He thinks that EVENTUALLY my teeth further back will all shift and the gaps will close. EVENTUALLY???? I am feeling a little disappointed. I am happy with my straight front teeth, but wonder if he had bonded all 6 fronts together whether they would have stayed as they were?
