You could try Colgate orabase soothe-n-seal. It's supposed to put a kind of protective "seal" over the sore. I bought some, but I haven't tried it yet.

There's also something called BraceEze (I think there's a link on this site somewhere) which is a compound you put over the bracket and it hardens. You use it the same as wax, but it stays on better. Apparently, you can even eat with it on and it won't dislodge until you remove it yourself. Sadly, they get that stuff from England and it's on back-order until September.

Somebody also recommended something called a morgan bumper, (morganbumper.com). It's like a smooth strip of plastic you put on over your braces to provide a smooth bumper between the braces and your lips. You can order it in long lengths and then cut it to fit.
