It's pretty common to have premolars removed for orthodontic treatment. My husband had his removed and I didn't even know until after I'd known him for several years. My 12 year daughter also had hers removed.

Of course you can deal with spaces in the front (actually, in your case, they are more on the side) for a while. I'm 35 and had BIG spaces beside my upper two front teeth for several months. I did it because I knew it had to be done.

If you're unsure about the treatment plan, get another consultation or two.
