Had mine out when I was 25 - Oral Surgen route. No problem just woke up and it was over... Took about 2-3 weeks to heal.

I just had my lower left central incissor out (I'm now 38)under local. Man I was TERIFFIED!! The thought of having somone rip out one of my front teeth while I was awake (novacaine or not) was too much for me.

My wife called the dentist before I went in to warn them (without telling me). I was soooo stressed I did not sleep for 2 nights leading up to extraction.

Anyway I went in and did it and it was not that bad. Not at all what I had imagined. There was allot of pressure and then a kind of snap/crack and it was over. No blood and guts - no real pain. I really built it up in my head that it was going to hurt etc. It was nothing... Go for it!

For the wisdoms get all four at once - under general...

>Well, the ortho told me that before does my braces
>again, I have to get my wisdom teeth out! 3 of them
>are semi straight through the gums, but one is growing
>right into my other teeth and I guess that was part of
>the problem of my teeth crooked again ( along with
>poor retention on my part!)GRRRR...I am kicking myself
>now! So my question is how much does this hurt, and
>how long will i be out of commision! I am a bit of a
>baby...lol....and that is the reason that i am still
>debating on even getting braces again! Maybe I just
>need a kick in the butt!!
