I have those on the bottom arch wire on both sides where the brackets have not been placed on my teeth.

I was sort of surprised when they didn't put them on my upper arch wire, but it's not given me any problems.

I'd like to say they help tremendously, but I've no idea what it feels like without them. I assume it would be extremely uncomfortable without them.

The only problems I have with them now is that they're too short and move too much. I end up pinching my checks when I try to floss. The one on the right-hand side does not move because of the powerchain that goes from my left canine to my right first molar. It is rubbing against the tooth, too, so I don't evne know if it's getting clean down in there.

They're pretty cool, all in all. They DO stain, though. I swear mustard stained mine.

Mine haven't been changed, either, since I got my braces on. The wire hasn't been changed, either. It's a rectangular wire and seems to be doing its job. It looks like it's already back to its original position.

I don't know what the purpose of this post is, but I have them and they seem to do their job. :P
