I've always had to brush my teeth 5x a day even before braces and floss 2x a day because I get a lot of plaque and cavities. With my braces, it takes me a total of 30 minutes to brush/floss. When I had braces as a kid I also took a long time, but I don't remember it taking 30 minutes. I use those purple tablets also to always make sure I get all the plaque off at night. I still find that there are some spots that I really have a lot of trouble reaching such as the spot under the archwire and powerchains, but right next too the brackets. I also use this christmas tree shaped brush 2x a day, but when I'm out in public I usually just do the best I can brushing. I also use listerine(as much as I hate it) to rinse out my mouth because I remember when I was younger and had braces getting gingivitis 2x, and listerine can help out there. Basically I've found that the long routine of brushing, flossing, using the special brush, flouride, and listerine is necessary. The next thing I want to invest in is that stuff you use to rinse with before you brush that loosens the plaque,
