Melissa-
My ortho is trying the expander first. If it doesn't work he is really pushing the surgery on me. I am petrified of the sugery!!! I am hoping the expander will work though but I am 30 now...well I will find out next few weeks. The goals of the expander for me are to widen my upper jaw and fix a slight crossbite. After that ceramic braces on top to straighten out the teeth.
Anyways in regards to your sugery...how bad was it? How long till the gap was gone???
Did you still have to wear an expander after the surgery or did they just put braces one you?
Sorry for all the questions but I soon may be a candidate for the surgery if this doesn't work. I'm so nervous!!!!

When I came out of surgery I had a VERY noticable gap.
