Hi,

I had a bunch of work done right before I got my braces on too. I have a total of 6 root canals w/crowns, plus I have 5 composite and 2 amalgam (old) fillings. I had my wisdom teeth extracted as well. I am also missing a molar and bicuspid on top that I had extracted years ago. I too asked my dentist if I should have my 2 silver fillings replaced with white, and he advised against it. He said that if the filling is large, (which mine are) you run the risk of damaging the tooth-causing you to possibly need a root canal. So I am holding off on that. (I need a break from the drill!!! LOL)

BTW Heather, You can have sensitivity in a tooth with a new composite filling for as much as a month. I had a big filling done on my back molar and it was very cold/pressure sensitive for a little over a month. Then it was fine. Dentist said it was normal. I'm sure yours will feel better soon.
