In reply to: VES 's message, "Tooth-colored fillings with/or after braces?" on 15:18:39 07/16/04 Fri

I have old, tooth-colored fillings at the back of my upper central incissors and slightly inbetween them (they're... umm... 8 years old or so...?). They're not really tooth-colored anymore, and I want to replace them with new ones in the future. The question is: when should I do it?

I have braces now, and I'm afraid it won't be possible to do it with braces, am I right? I go to my regular dentist in another town, far away, so I can't ask my ortho to take out the wire for a few hours... :( And, after braces - what if I get a permanent upper retainer...? is it possible AT ALL to get a permanent retainer glued onto an old filling? Does my ortho already know what kind of retainer I'll get? (I'm 7.5 months into treatments, 2 years estimated). I don't want to seem too impatient :)

Thank you for your help :)
