Hi Katy
I'm pretty much in the same boat -- just got my first spacers on Wednesday too. Not much pain except for crunchy/chewy foods, which are pretty much out of the question for a while. I only have the top ones in and they have to stay for 3 weeks. Then I get braces on the top and spacers on the bottom and start all over again! Can't say I've dealt with childbirth, but this all comes right after a wisdom tooth extraction, so the spacer pain is relatively mild by comparison, at least so far.

I'd be a lot more apprehensive about the whole braces thing if it wasn't for the information I've gotten here. Knowing what to expect, and that people can go through it with their sanity intact helps a lot.

Keeping my teeth long-term is the big motivator for me too, along with the idea of having nice looking teeth for the first time. Anytime I ask myself, "what am I doing this for?" I can answer myself pretty quickly. Hope you're feeling better about the whole thing. Hang in there!
