 Warning! Whine alert, whine alert!!

I just got spacers last Wednesday and have an appointment for next Wednesday to get my top braces on. I am 30 years old and have a deep bite. I will be in braces for 2yrs to correct this problem and to help stop my teeth from constantly shifing (I'm a grinder). My ortho doesn't think I will need any headgear, expander, or bite plate. My problem is this: I am a HUGE baby!! I have done nothing but be completely miserable since the day after I got the spacers in. I have moaned and complained and taken pain relievers and eaten only soft foods but am still in almost constant pain. I just don't understand it, I gave birth to my son via natural child birth but don't think I can handle the pain of braces! I'm guessing that because of the way the spacers have affected me that this is the way I will feel through the two years of orthodontics. Is this the case? Has anyone like me actually gotten used to them? I'm not sure what will happen if I don't get the braces. My guess is I won't be able to keep my own teeth for the rest of my life. Any comments on that? I have come so very very close to taking the spacers out myself and cancelling the next appointment before I put down the deposit on my braces. A kick in the butt anyone??
