Facing braces is a difficult decision at any age, but especially so the older we are. I recently got braces at age 55. Why did I get them? Primarily issues of dental health. If I wanted to save my teeth and avoid dentures down the road, orthodontics was likely to help. It is nice that the teeth are being straightened as well, but that to me is the icing on the cake. I need an implanted molar after treatment is completed and hope that my slight underbite can be corrected by braces as well.

Frankly, not a day goes by that I do not at least momentarily question my decision to get braces, but when I think it through all the way , I know I made the right decision. This group is very supportive and has helped me to get through braces more smoothly. I found the forum about a month before I actually got braces, and it made getting braces a lot easier to face.

Best to you as you weigh your decision!

My top teeth are quite straight but I have a couple
