I would love to tell you there's a quick fix to this. I have jaw problems as well (TMJ). My jaw locks sometimes but most of the time it just clicks everytime I open my mouth. If you're looking for quick relief your only real option is going to be those muscle relaxers. If you don't have time to do the heat/cold thing you probably don't have time for this either, but if at all possible you may want to try a massage therapist especially if you have insurance to cover it. I go to a massage therapist through insurance because of a car accident I was involved in. She massages my jaw and it really loosens everything up in my jaw area and eliminates some of the clicking. I usually end up icing it that night though because it really heats up from her working on it. Anyways, just an idea you may want to try :)
