For the first year or so I only had braces up to and including the first molars. I noticed that on one side things were out of whack with the second molar and asked my orthodontist if he planned on fixing that. He didn't, but put bands on all 4 second molars anyway because I wanted it fixed. I figured that the better your upper and lower teeth fit together, the less abnormal wear and tear you get. My wisdom teeth were extracted several years ago.
