I read somewhere that wisdom teeth aren't USUALLY banded because a)for whatever reason, they seem to come along for the ride and b) having brackets or bands back there really tends to dig into the cheeks. But obviously your ortho has a reason for doing it. My ortho is great about explaining anything I want explained to the Nth degree so just ask, I'm sure you'll get an answer.

I have 4 unbanded/unbracketed teeth myself.
