I will say you brought up a few good points on the escort such as More and better bracing. This is although already known by most in this sport. I know some of your other suggestions were based on memery. The box was as far forword as possible, the face was one piece going all the way to the sides, top and bottom and double layered. The internal airspace was as big as it could be since the car was also for show, such as the fiberglass piece in back. The car was always externally supported by people when ever serious runs were made and up to a half DB was gained by doing so. The port was also as big as it could be with the sub configuration that was used. It started out at a set depth then played with from there till the biggest number was posted simply not having a port in ther at all. Basically making it 1 1/2 inches deep because of the thickness of the face. As for the ready rod for bracing that is a good idea, acually batter then angle iron and the use of 6x6 ends, if not bigger, is a good idea also. I would put the ends on the outside of the box to help keep turbulace down. As far as hurting to run it from front to back I can't buy that as I have seen it ran in quite a few of todays top compeditors. As for rounding the port corners again a good idea to round off all edges and corners of the port and enclosure. As for gaining a full DB by rounding just to outside of the port mouth, I can't buy that either. We are talking tenths of a DB if you round everything, maybe a full on some systems but again that includes ALL edges and corners, but then again some have done it with no gain. I do not understand what you are talking about when you talk about your door pins but sounds a little strange to me. As for modifing the amp in any way is in fact illegal in pretty much any sanctioned event and if you are caught I believe you will be disqualified so I suggest wiring a cap up like eveyone else, on the outlide of the amp. Now what really gets me is this Mark Barfield. If he dosen't belong to any sanctioned body then how can he claim to be third loudest vehicle in the world. If you are going to do such a thing why not claim THE loundest car in the world. As for his fiberglassing the undercarrige, I can not believe one can gain two DB by doing so. It takes a lot more then that to gain that much. In theory it takes twice the power you have to gain three DB, so I think by glassing the underside is not going to get you two full DBs. This guy must have done something different at the same time. As for leaving things on your seat, I might be able to buy that if you competed sealed and it was a lot bigger then a cd case. I am not trying to be a jerk here just stating my opinion. I applaud your want to learn and help in this sport but don't try to relay things that aren't right as fact, it might discourge some people or simply make some people think your an idiot. You are on the right track with some things and I wish you the best of luck, I do however suggest not exagerating some things and don't believe every thing you hear. I hope to see you and everyone else in Bismark on June 11th.
