Date Posted: 10:41:40 02/02/03 Sun Skelmersdale United left Cheshire pointless after a 2-0 defeat to Alsager, but had to play against the referee as well as Greg Clowes 11 men. Sloppy defending led to Alsager's first goal, as their failure to defend a free kick, led to a glancing header gliding into the net courtesy of Mark Parry in the 5th minute. From that point on Skem took command of the game, but unfortunately the game was held up on numerous occasions, as Alsager committed several stupid fouls. But it was the referees failure to act upon them that eventually turned the game into a farce. Skem continued to have the lions share of possession in the second half, but in an off the ball incident Skem's substitute Chris Lee was sent off after only being on the pitch for ten minutes, and the game was thrown into further chaos. The rest of the game was played out in a bad temper and despite all their possession, Skem couldn't get back on terms, with further woe coming in injury time as Alsager doubled their lead as Andy Kinsey took advantage of Skem's stretched resources. The referee will be reported to the League for such a poor display. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
