Here you go folks, straight from the IGHS newsletter.....

One of the nice touches we find in Johnstown is that unlike Gettysburg that has turned into a tourist town, Johnstown is still in a pristine condition, the flood marks are still visible, and no venders hawking their wear at every shop in town as we find in Gettysburg. We found so much contention in Gettysburg between the shop venders, even the green-eyed jealous ghost clubs content over turf in Gettysburg, each with a severe case of "I was here first" covetousness.

The war has not ended in Gettysburg, today the locals are fighting over turf that even the Civil War Soldiers would shake their heads and wonder why. It is about money today, bottom line is greed. Many have commented how much Gettysburg has changed over the years since we started holding our annual event in that town. The Battlefield is special, even if the surrounding merchants and ghost groups are fighting amid themselves. Those who fight amid themselves about turf and greed have lost the significance of why we were coming to Gettysburg. It is no longer about respect for the dead, but about pride and power.

It is refreshing to find a town like Johnstown where the local folks are not contentious about who was here first. While Gettysburg may have the most haunted battlefield, come to Johnstown and walk the most haunted Main Street in America. Listen to the stories about the flood victims, the murders and the suicides and those spirits who still haunt Main Street today.
