Date Posted: 11:28:08 10/09/02 Wed I am a local music critic who frequents various shows around the state to listen to new musicians. I enjoyed your web, but I have some thoughts.I have seen 12 Pearls play once at Luckys in Dallas, and though I was not disgusted, I certainly was not floored. See, what you have to understand is, there are thousands of exteremly talented local bands in this region that will never get signed. In my years of listening to bands in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas I have seen bands with a bigger fan base, a better stage presence and more talent tour and tour and pay for several demos out of their own pockets and never get signed. The music world is changing, good music is coming back, hence the emergence in radio of bands like the Hives, the Vines, Queens of the Stone Age, etc. You actually have to be really talented, really good to get signed lately. All that to say, 12 Pearls doesn't suck, but perhaps the goal of the band should be to have fun, to play music not to "break into the scene". It just isn't going to happen.
