Don't confuse the Simmons company to be (David Simmons) with the Simmons (family) company that is selling its three biggest stations and three of the safe-est playing format stations in the world... Don't forget everybody assumed a lot of MATERIAL changes would take place when Simmons acquired KXRK... and while U-92 was down a bit in the winter book with a 2.4... some of that HAD to be something lost in the "squeeze" applied to KZHT from one side by U and the side by Power... and look at the numbers for even the Winter... ZHT 2.8. UUU 2.4, UDD 2.2... and Power hasn't done much to promote the 103.9 Utah county signal that's in ZHT's backyard.... and, even though rumors has the business down at the Millcreek places this year a bit... they run 'em lean... and, what would Simmons flip 'em to anyway? Don't you suppose part of the Bonneville deal is "nobody centrally involved in the Simmons operation can go copy those formats elsewhere in the market for a bunch of years"????
U-92 may have evolved a bit over the four years of it's existence... but it's still the station... and ALWAYS has been the station that plays the most hip hop and R&B in the Market... that defines them.... count on 'em staying with it.... maybe NOT on 92.1/92.3... but the "U" moniker is too well branded and associated with the rhytmic sound here.
