Okay, well, here goes, (I'm going to make about a thousand enemies saying this)

If the listener can't tell if you (as a DJ) are live or voicetracked, then you are a lousy DJ. Radio has dulled down through the seventies. I want someone who talks to the listener. Says a few things spontaneously, and takes a few live calls, or even slightly delayed calls. I want to listen to a radio station that DOESN'T sound perfect. I want to listen to people who (while still being professional) still sound like regular people and not some type of celebrity.

Radio is not just a place where people go to listen to music. It's also a place where people can connect and hear what's going on.

I want to hear people occasionally make mistakes. I want to listen to real people, not a computer.

Yes, in the past decade we've gotten away with tracking. But in the long run listeners will find out that 'the dj isn't real' and you'll lose their trust. They'll switch the radio off, and never turn it back on. What difference is the dial vs. a CD? At least the CD doesn't have commercials. Radio needs to be a local median. An for stations that bill well over a million a year, even $6 for a college student to come in and say "It's five AM at KISN Salt Lake City," for a few hours, and run the board. By cutting the bottom step off the ladder they not only rob someone's gateway into the industry, but they rob something from the listener. If you bill that much, cutting of the $50 extra a day it would cost is just flat out greed. Youe selling out your audience for $50 (one spot). Now what message could that send to your listeners?

I'm not upset at anyone, nor wish to argue. I'm not mad at anyone here who does track. However, I am upset that the industry is selling out their listeners for so little. I'm als afraid that listeners will slowly shut off their radio, not to tne in again. It's going to hurt the industry, adI want radio to stay vibrant. It's not big corp that's bad. They can do a good job. It's not mom and pop that's bad. They too do a good job. It's VOICETRACKING for greed that's bad. Makes sense in market #3452, or eve Maket #100 for nights. But market #32 daytime? Market #2? C'mon, that's flat out greed. And selling out your listeners.

Rememer the "Radio gets Results" commercials?
TV didn't kill radio.
Sattellite TV didn't kill radio.
Sattellite Radio won't kill radio.

"All those arrows missed."

But radio CAN kill itself with greed. I hope it doesn't.

Again, I'm not upset at anyone.
