Subject: TV Remake on NBC

AAARRRGGGHHH! What a steaming pile of 3-hour crap that was. Look, I love disaster movies. I love the Poseidon Adventure. I was intrigued by the remakes of it, not only the big-budget summer blockbuster film being released in 2006, but the made-for-TV version that was broadcast last night on NBC. When I heard a radio ad for it earlier in the day, I was a little bit excited. I should have read the EW review of it first.

Pretty much as bad as you can imagine. A C-list cast leftover from the 80's, which doesn't have to be a bad thing. Bryan Brown and Adam Baldwin are usually pretty good at elevating some of the lesser things they've been in, but they can't save this. Rutger Hauer is another one who usually does a better job, but this was an obvious mail-it-in job. Steve Guttenberg is Steve Guttenberg. He's F'n Mahoney for crying out loud. Nothing more, nothing less. He has no business - NO BUSINESS - being anywhere near a dramatic role. Peter Weller was on screen for about 2 minutes and did nothing. Remember the annoying kid from the original? Well there is an annoying kid in this one too, but this kid take annoyance to a whole new level. The plot is different than the first, it now involves terrorists. I think, it's hard to say since there is nothing really coherent about this. Bargain-basement CG effects didn't help either.

Why did I watch this?
