I don't want to throw out the board, I want the board to recognize that they were wrong for trying to permanently shut down the basketball court without homeowner approval, and when challenged on it, not have them put back up immediately. It was obviously the wrong decision. I also want this board, the one we have now, to help develop a much more defined set of bylaws and covenants that properly restricts the board where they need to be restricted and empowers them where they need to be empowered. If they won't do those things, then perhaps it is time to throw the board out. However, there may be a way to minimize or even eliminate the need for a board altogether, and that option probably should be explored as a possibility. There are entire cities that are run by the citizens, who get together and vote on issues once a year and leave the rest to the city manager. There is no reason we couldn't do that here in willoughby station. We could have one person, or an entity, act like the city manager of Mt. Juliet should act, and then entire membership vote, not just once per year, but every month, or even every week, on matters that need to be dealt with, and the board wouldn't be necessary. That way, there is no way that a few people could decide everything for us anymore. We probably need to send most decisions like the one we are dealing with to an attorney as well, just to be on the safe side.
