Everyone should be calling their board members to give their opinion on this stuff.

My first take; the board is created to cunduct the business of the neighborhood. This is direct from the bylaws: "The business and affairs of the corporation shall be managed by its Board of Directors who may exercise all such powers of the corporation and do all such lawful acts and things as are not by statute, the Declaration, the Charter, or these Bylaws, directed or required to be exercised or done by the Members."

It says they are to manage the business and affairs, not provide services that are already available.

Recycling is available, either by paying for it yourself, or with just a little work, free. Anything recyclable can be dropped off at the bins by where the old walmart was at the corner of Lebanon and Old Hickory. The Catholic church has a place for aluminum cans that go to Habitat for Humanity.

Internet service is available to every home by any number of means, and is not that expensive. I pay $43/month for pretty good service from Comcast myself. $400K, just for setup! Wonder what the yearly fees are with that, things such as servers, maintenance, internet connection fees, etc.? Also wonder how this will increase the HOAs liability should the service be used for some unscrupulous activity?

Call your board members, let your opinions be known. Of course I wonder how many people actually are aware of all these plans when the newsletters aren't delivered any more?
