Buxton's letter to McKay was very apropos, except WRONG. We are not a Socialist Country the last time I looked and as far as I can see free enterprise in this country is alive and well. The farmers who went to the States with their wheat were not traitors as he described, but free enterprise entrepreneurs who wished to run their own businesses and reap the rewards of their hard work. The need for the wheat board of the 20's and 30's and 40' is no more. Lets get with the program. Lets move into the new millenium, and just as an asside, this IS A VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE and Peter Mckay should be giving it A LOT OF THOUGHT or the West is going to end up in the same position as the fisheries!!! Government is NOT good for business. He better think long and hard on his position on this matter, and treat the issue with all the respect it deserves. What ever side he comes down on it better be WELL thought out, planned and have a reasonable chance of success for the future of the western wheat pools. We do not need a devastated West like we have a devastated Maritimes.
