Ariane,

I agree with you that there are dippers that join the party to support David when there is a vote on. But let's be realistic. There are a lot of people who will also join to support other leadership candidates but will be working in the CA offices once the writ drops.

So candidates pull out whatever stops they can to promote their chances at an election - welcome to politics.

The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of people who used to belong to this party that left it when it went too far right in the eighties and nineties. So if you'r pissed off about why David is able to have an influence in the party to the extent that he has, you may want to look at why so many people have left what was once a strong right of center party. It's because the ideology of the party has shifted from it's tradtitional roots that go back much further than the past 15 years of history that the neo-conservatives that are in influential positions in the party want to call our 'tradition'.

And you may also want to reflect on how the effect of that shift in ideology has effected this country in the past 12 years in terms of the free reign the Libs have had in destroying our country. If you take a look at history over a much longer period, say 100 years, you will find that this party forms the govermnent when it moves closer to the center than the right.

I have been a Tory all my life. I am no tourist in this party. And I am greatful that Mr. Orhcard is in my party fighting for what it traditionally stood for and encouraging me that Canada may have a chance to survive as a strong and sovereign country.
