Margo - I'm kind of surprised that you would fall for this patently obvious campaign stunt that the MacKay camp is pulling. In this case, 'don't believe everything you read' is a good cliche to lean on.

The MacKay camp are merely appealing to a certain - and I believe it to be quite small although somewhat vocal - group of thin-skinned, fearful, PC's who might buy their rubbish.

Mr. Orchard will not win a first round ballot, and will not receive the vote growth he would need in subsequent ballots to do anything but place last. In the second (and maybe a third?) round the real strategizing will happen.

The numbers are still stacked against Orchard - or any leader for that matter - winning in the first round, and clearly the odds do not favour Orchard in subsequent run offs.

Lets also not forget that only a tiny percentage of the 2000 some odd delegates are now elected or openly committed to any leader - this race has tons of room in it.

The only "news" in this piece is that the MacKay team is feeling pretty uneasy about their changes of winning on the first ballot and they do not feel good at all that they will come out on top on the second.

I think this is a terrific race in the making !
