As I read through Joe Hueglin’s Daily Digest today I perused several articles about the multi-millionaire destined to be the next Prime Minister. I read about his huge potential conflict of interest and the decidedly un-Candaian way he has run his business over the past few years. Not that I have a problem with capitalism, but you can’t be a baron and pretense to have defending the lot of the serfs as your mission.

Then I got thinking about the next election. Did you know that 80% of a voter’s decision is about the leader and the other 20% is about all the other factors including the local candidate. Who among the candidates do you suppose represents the greatest contrast to Mr. Martin for Main Street Canada? Who, when compared to Martin instills the greatest feeling of confidence in voters that the concerns of the common person are his concerns as well. Is it one of the lawyers, the investment banker, one of the career politicians…..or the farmer?

This leadership race is about winning an election. Think about it.
