Margo, many people are asking the party to sponsor a debate in French, in Quebec. My own riding association passed a motion to that effect, asking the LSC to consider such an idea.

What we do have to remember is that the LSC is also operating on a very tight budget, and the organization of a major debate, if it is to be done properly, costs a substantial amount of money. Poorly organizing an event in Quebec, or organizing one that demonstrates little interest or support in that province would also be counter-productive.

If, as seems likely, we do have additional candidates from Quebec, it may be that there will be the resources and interest in that province in organizing such a debate. It would also be nice if the party would organize and pay for one in British Columbia, but I don't expect it to do so. If we want a forum for the candidates in this province we will roll up our sleeves and organize it ourselves.

Finally, you describe the debate to be held March 2 in the National Capital Region as being an "all-English" debate. There is no reason to suggest that. I expect all the candidates will address the audience in both official languages and I expect questions to be posed to them in both languages.
