Berlusconi needs the distraction of the war as he is getting closer and closer to be ousted by his own people - he's manipulating the Italian law system in a breathtaking way, and if he wasn't Italy's president he would be one of Europe's most wanted white-collar criminals. Some other governments may have been offered heavy bribes, or are just too afraid - you can see what happens to France, Germany and tiny Belgium for having a different opinion.
The current US administration is taking the UN, the Nato, and the EU hostage since months. They are strangling them for their own purpose. From the first second that Bush had successfully cheated his way into office he and his White House SS have threatened and cajoled every single international organization, whithdrawn from countless international conventions, tried to prevent or destroy every single international effort they didn't want, like, eg. the International Criminal Court. And now France and Germany are the bad guys?
Whenever any international organization or members dared to not immediately comply the US administrative scumbags started howling how everybody else damaged the UN, the Nato, whatever. On paper, member states still have the power of veto, but don't they dare to really use it - they will face immediate punishment. They are ridiculed, they are defamed, they are openly threatened. And, they are finally insulted by this walking blob of jello, Hastert, who wants to ban French wine and water to get even.
From what I saw, or rather not saw, your media seem to be are already heavily censored. There is so much untruthfulness and omission, it's hard to believe it's not masterminded. For example, did anybody tell you that Turkish papers and organizations have actually been thanking France and Germany for their endeavors? They know they will get every support to defend themselves when they need it, and they'd rather avoid to get drawn into a war of another Nato member. Turkey and Germany have been in friendly contact for more than 100 years, we certainly do not need Bush and his buddies to invent a new history for us.
A while ago you said the UN will not survive if they cannot get Saddam to comply with the UN resolutions. Wrong. It doesn't matter anymore because the Bush mob will not allow the UN to survive, no matter what. UN, Nato, EU can tell the US to stick it up Bush's hind end, but the US will not withdraw because that this is not what the Bush mob wants. If they wanted they would have done so long before. They want undisputed power, and they do not want to have this outside of international organizations because it would look bad - they couldn't hide any longer behind a great history of a great country. They would be seen for what they really are. They want the dead shell of international organizations to pull it over like a second skin - well even the worst Nazis could be perfectly charming gentlemen if they only wanted to.
And still none of my spells work. I've added a "simply diasppear and be never heard of again" spell to my repertoire but whenever I look the mob is still there. Really, this magic spells book I inherited from my aunt isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
But this day had also a moment of light when the news announced that Maine does not approve of the White House squatter's desire for war. A tribute to the good people of Maine!
Oh yes, and I really hope Kris keeps Bo away from Bush and his dog hunters. The whole North American continent has not enough rabies shots available to keep the poor dog healthy. Bo does deserve better!
