 Oh man, it takes a lot for someone on the net to piss me off, but Mitch just did, and in a big way. Go read poor Terrygail's post there (top of the board) about hoping to have children in the future....read his RUDE, ASSHOLISH, INSENSITIVE, fucked-up response to her.......saying that her having had a tubal in the past was simply her 'being lazy'......what a jackass. I've sent an "alert" to Paula because this shithead needs to be completely banned.....how many times is he going to so CLEARLY set out to upset and insult people, and still be able to post there? Fuck.

Just read one of Mitch's responses to me, in Terrygail's thread......it was "yes, dear"....same kind of stupid responses that Ari used to give me when he and I would go at it. Maybe it's just me, but there seem to be just a few similarities between Mitch and Ari:

-for some reason, they both get along so well.....seemed to become pals 'instantly'

-Ari is also known for his outrageous points of view on things, he's admitted to PURPOSELY posting responses that will elicit heated/passionate responses from others

-Didn't Mitch show up around the time that Ari started posting on DP more (lately, I mean. Throughout most of Ari's 'journey', he posted on DP rarely.....but around the time that Mitch showed up, Ari was posting more. Still on the road but I suspected that perhaps he a) bought a laptop or b) had his Mommy send him ?his laptop (something of that nature).

If I had the time or inclination, I'd go through the board and see if there was any correlation between Ari's posts and Mitch's.......but at this point, I'd rather watch paint dry.

Remember how Ari used to always post "links" to sites in his responses? Heck, didn't he have a site on his own personal website that contained all kinds of URL's to various sites? People used to tease him about all the goofy sites he had bookmarked. Well notice how Mitch is often including a URL in his responses? Some of them are downright stupid, similar to Ari's in the past.

First I was thinking that if it's Ari, what's his motive? He seemed to be getting along fairly well here - although he did post that "Who else has a bone to pick with me" post just before the ascension of Mitch.

But, I think you may be right. If I'm not mistaken, Mitch showed up the day of the big circumcision debate (June 13), which was mostly a dialog between Mitch (anti) and Ari (pro), but with Mitch ultimately respecting Ari's reasoning (Personally, I'd just say NO to it! However, I respect, deeply your religious personal ties to it!). And Mitch was unusually coherent in that posting.

If it is Ari, his motive could simply be to consistently get everyone on DP riled up, on a regular basis, then sit back and enjoy the show. He's tried doing the same as "himself" but not that long ago, Paula posted on DP and told him to watch it or he'd be banned...so maybe he created this new persona as a way of getting away with it....and if "Mitch" did get banned, no biggie...cuz Ari would still be around.

Yes, I went back and read that dialogue between Ari and Mitch on the circumcision issue...Mitch was "especially" cordial and respectful to Ari.......which seems awfully out of character for him.

Mitch has mentioned the site www.sexplained.com quite a few times in his posts...... Hasn't Ari also mentioned it (posted the link to it also) as well? Not sure what kind of site it is, a forum? Maybe Mitch/Ari posts there??

I have another suspicion who it could be, if it's not Ari.....Kimmy if you're around, ya got IM on? Glenn, do you have IM?

I just took a few minutes and searched through threads on DP that contain Ari responding to Mitch, or vice versa. They sure are supportive of each other. In one response, Ari even refers to Mitch as "Mitchy"......anyone else find this just a tad strange/suspicious?

I can't see ari having the knowledge or even the articulation that Mitch has displayed when he's not busy dumbing himself down. Ari couldn't pull it for as long, he doesn't have the brains to troll that well!

Rereading that thread, I'm about to take back everything I said about Mitch being just a moronic windbag. His writing style has, very clearly, been altered since he first starting posting. I'm not ready to say it's ari, though I had noticed the similarities even before Shannie brought them up--not ruling him out though either. The fact that he left for another trip just as Mitch came in is a bit Clark Kentish. The fact that their time overlap somewhat overcomes Clark's biggest problem. It's also not the first time Ari has created a new personna.

I know this sounds funny, but I ask it in all seriousness: Think ari's smart enough to act to dumb?

Whoever it is, it's gotta be someone with a lot of time on their hands (and by the way, school started up again here. :-)) That limits the possibilities.

Do I think Ari is smart enough to pull this off? In all honesty, I don't really think it takes that many smarts to create a new identity and be a jackass.

The way that a lot of Mitch's posts are very incoherent while others are pretty well articulated, seems to indicate to me that it's someone trying really hard to change their writing style to really throw everyone off.

Yes Kevin...Kimmy and I were just talking about the fact that it's awfully coincidental that Ari just happened to post that he 'won't be around for awhile'.......seems like he's trying just a little too hard to make us think he's not, um, around.

Here's what I think. Ari has a laptop.....as exciting as his trek across America is, all the driving is getting a little tiresome. And with gas prices as high as they are, and him not even working to bring in an income, I can't see him doing as much travelling as he might lead us to believe. Who could afford it now? So...I think he spends more time "parked" (be it at his grandmother's, friend's place, hostel, hotel, etc)......and a tourist can only play tourist for so long........so he gets bored, wants a few laughs, is probably a little lonely......so what better way to entertain himself and pass the many 'free' hours he has in a day than create a new personna and have some laughs at DP'ers expense?

Ari's a little sh*tdisturber.....and I can see him just letting loose and having some 'fun'......but of course he knows he couldn't get away with it as "Ari"....

In one of the links I posted above (DP posts), Ari even calls Mitch "Mitchy".....now that's just plain weird.

I don't know. All the evidence pointing to Ari is just circumstantial, and I've always been uncomfortable jumping to such conlusions. On the other hand, I have to admit that the evidence, however circumstantial it may be, is pretty damning. I'm leaning.

Could also explain why he's always reminding us that he's in his upper 40s.

After rereading the earlier posts, we do have this much "proof": whoever Mitch is, he's definately someone posting in a "dumbed-down" persona.

If it is ari, I would expect him to come out and say something like, "See? I fooled you all along." I'd like to leave some vague hints somehow that we're on to him.

See? All this from someone who's not even completely convinced.

Kimmy and I were discussing the same thing, that "Mitch" spends a little too much time trying to remind everyone that he's in his 40's, that he's "older"...and he's always made several references on DP (and in PM to me) that he's from New Jersey (or New Joisey, as he put it).......it's almost like he's going out of his way to convince us all that he's someone else, or not someone we might already know.

Think about it, too.......If Mitch really IS in his 40's, how could have have so much time to post dang near every 15 minutes on DP? Okay, I guess he could be retired or something........maybe. But who else has a ton of time on their hands? ARI.

Also....notice that Mitch often started threads, asking DP'ers to tell more about themselves.....but he really never offered much info about himself? Why not? I know why......tell as little as possible when you're making stuff up, because it could come back to bite you in the ass should you ever 'screw up' down the road.

Notice the email address in Mitch's profile: ABC@yahoo.com It's bogus, and I know this cuz I just tried to email him ....came back/was returned cuz it's bogus.

Now let me ask you this. When you sign up at DP, you are told to give a valid, 'real' email address.......so why would a "newbie" enter a BOGUS one......how would they "know" that they could still register at DP with a bogus addy?

In the "circumcision thread"......both Ari and Mitch are flingin' off the URL's/links to circumcision info/sites.........coincidence? I don't know.

Oh, and in that thread, Ari posts to Mitch that he 'respectfully disagrees' with him....um, since when is Ari so POLITE when disagreeing with someone? I mean, not saying Ari is ever 'mean' but he's usually not sweet and sugary like that, no?

Lastly....notice how whenever Ari gets called onto the carpet by anyone on DP, he never (rarely) becomes riled......never seems to lose his temper, responds very passively, calmly..........well Mitch does the same thing, right?

I suppose this odd areas piercing is a far reaching extension of that. Enjoying all your posts on the topic! Yes, I've seen lots of
girls having the multiple ear piercings. That's OK with me.. with a little gold or whatever stone in each. Studs... and tongues.Hmmmmmmmm........can't warm up to that idea and without permission, like they would get it under 18, lol... There seem to be a few similarities in those posts to, maybe, Rawlin's style? But with the state of his health, and Tracey's post a week or so ago about his cancer spreading/health deteriorating, I just can't see Rawlin duping us all like that....particularly when a) he knows that so many of us care so much about him.....b) surely he has better things to do in life then horse around on DP. Out of respect to his friends on DP, I just can't see him being Mitch. Not sure if that's who you might have been thinking of?

Well, If it's not Rawlin then it's his long lost clone - no one else can pop off dialect and ramble on about nothing and everything like that. But of course, Rawlin is in bed sick and dying and you're right, it would be pretty low for anyone to dupe one's friends like that. But I do enjoy Mitch, I think he's a gas and he gives everyone a puzzle to mull over, right?

Well, I've always had a bogus e-mail address in my profile too. But then, Mitch (were he a real person) strikes me as someone who would want everyone to be sending him e-mail, just to gab.

The way they both avoid/back down from conflict is interesting. I hadn't thought of that.

And yeah, I caught that "respectfully disagree" too. Very out of character.

All right, so how do we call him on it? Coincidences are easily explained away. Something like "Hey Mitch, how come you used to write in a different writing style and it suddenly dumbed down?" . . . Ari or not, I want to trip this guy up.

well, ari has always been one to post in an odd, illogical way. his leaps of reasoning can tend to leave one breathless and to wonder if he is experiencing the beginnings of a schizoaffective disorder. perhaps mitch is an alternate personality....

Once in a while he does post with amazing clarity. He does seem to have chosen certain people with whom he disagrees or trades taunts though.

Using a computer at the Navajo Nation Library, just walked through the museum.
I do agree that Mitch's writing style is intended to mess everyone up. When he first appeared I thought it was Don7 because of the way he monopolized he board, his responses about sex, woman and his arrogance. Then I though it was Rawlin, had a similar twist to Rawlin's sense of humour. But when it became extreme, I knew there was no way it could have been especially after Tracy's update. Then I went back to thinking it was Don7 again specifically when he posted about fat woman and still consuming the board.
I too thought it was Ari, and the most likely candidate for the same reasons that Shannie described and the timing of his appearances and disappearances, announcing the same, in sinq with the onset of Mitch etc. I thought Ari said he had a laptop, then he said he was using his grandmother's computer, now he say's this..

Today's plan is to head to the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest. But where to sleep; who knows. Maybe in Payson, maybe in Globe, maybe even in Safford if I drove through the Apache Forest.

This is peculiar as well,

If someone can read email, then why not read the board. He always did?

I can't remember Mitch's very first appearance, but it must have been vague as I don't recall any kind of impression that would have caused alert. Then he blasts away into oblivion in whatever order he chooses, mixing up threads in his responses, posting to his own threads repeatedly, opinionated to the max, then comes back meekly just like Ari.

I wonder if we'll ever figure him out. I thought too it may be Lynn/Jerry another with lots of time on their hands but if it were, would be more than likely found out by now.

There is no sense confronting him, as he will have his usual responses. Second thought about ignoring him, if we do respond to him, perhaps something will be revealed. He's addictive and he knows it.
