My 1997 truck has in the past two months been nothing but trouble. First the brakes were pulling to the right. Took it (under warranty) to dealer, after a hassle, they replaced both front calipers. Then the transmission started slipping, back to the dealer for a new one plus converter.
About two weeks later the alternator went out. A week later a shock went bad, replaced all four plus new tires, close to replacing them anyway. Ok everything fine now for about two weeks and then Friday damn water pump failure. Replaced that yesterday and keeping fingers crossed that all the bugs are gone. This truck has 76,000 miles on it. When I traded my 1990 in for this truck, it had 186,000 and only two alternators and one started was ever replaced.

and what next? I shouldn't even say it in fear of jinxing myself cause I have no idea what's going to go wrong next with my car. I can certainly understand your frustration Clint, one thing after another. I've thought of selling mine for the same reason, but then again after investing for repairs is it worth it to take a gamble on another unknown? At least I know what I don't have to fix next. It's a real drag since my car is a necessity to my job and when it brakes down and I have no wheels, no $$$ coming in to offset or even stay balanced. Do you want to get married?

You know that could be a solution. Us getting married. Heck, maybe we could keep one of them running..LOL Well I have a car also. So it's not like I'm stranded. And all of the work on my truck has been under warranty but the alternator and water pump. It's just that I love my truck, it is not a standard truck, it's a Regency conversion with all the whistles and Bells. And I buy to drive, some people like to save miles on their vehicles, not me, heck drive it until I get about 150,000 and then go for another one.
I know exactly what you mean about your job and transportation, been there at one time Dawni, and I can relate with your situation, but Sugar, it has to get better for you, just too damn bad I don't live closer to you so I could repair it for you, then maybe I could get a free meal HUH..LOL
Today is a cool morning here, the humidity is way down and I have my condo open to air out, it's been so damn hot here. So a few months out of the year we suffer. Going out to breakfast now and will come back to clean and watch the Nascar race on TV. Later I can have my leftovers of stuffed Bell peppers. I'm sure you know this, but cooking for just one person is hard, always have left overs. So, I normally have two meals when I do cook. Have a nice day and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you also..Hugs..

Molson Indy is running here in Toronto all weekend. If I listen carefully I can hear the rumble and roar of the motors. Have a great day, and thanks.

What about the possibility that the repair place is setting little time bombs? They are notorious for messing with shocks, for example.

Yeah Glenn your right about being told lies and they puncturing your shocks for the fast buck. But no, I do most all the work on my vehicles, and I detected the shock going bad myself.

Hopefully you'll have come to the end of it. Nothing more frustrating than problems with a vehicle.

Knocking on wood: I've not had to make any repairs on my vehicle except a hose and it does need 3 new tires. I am starting to wonder about the fuel pump though because every now and then I feel a slight hesitation when I'm going down the road using cruise.

Well I forgot to mention my fuel pump going bad about two months ago also. Jeez, how could I forget that. Well if you have a late model car that has an electric fuel pump, then it will be lazy starting right before it goes bad. If your crusing along and feel the miss, then maybe it's a spark plug or wire going bad. That sounds like some sort of spark failure unless it stops running and then starts again by itself.

It's a 98 Tahoe, so I'm sure it's an electronic pump. I'll have one of the guys check the wires and connections. Or of course it could be my imagination over and over again. (smile)

Well yes it does have a electric fuel pump just like my truck. They are inside the fuel cell. But, I got to thinking after writing the last message, it could be your AC compressor kicking in and out if your running the AC. Good Luck

It's not exactly like the engine is cutting out or anything, it's more like a decrease in power. I'll take a drive without AC and see what happens. Either way I have some things to rule out now.
