What bullet weight? Anyway yes case volume varies. Sometimes you can detect it by weighing the brass. Bench rest shooters put water in the case and weigh it that way as the volume of water effected by the variation of internal case volume will make a more meaningful difference in case weight.

Accepted theory is that case volume needs to be as similar as possible within a batch of brass cases to reproduce pressur the same each shot. In theory this produces more uniform bullet speeds and vibrations of the barrel.
