I shot some of that with a friend last summer out of a scoped .22 rifle at night and it was very quiet. Extremely quiet. We were shooting at a telephone pole at 165 yards (he has one of those dandy laser range finders), all you could hear was the click of the trigger...wait a few seconds and hear a "tick" on the phone pole. We were aiming high, no clue where were were hitting--but the simple fact that we were hitting impressed me.

Glad you didn't shoot your eye out!
