Subject: Site Ideas

Right, since you mentioned earlier about making the site better, I'm going to give you a few suggestions. Not in a nasty way, more in a constructive way. That's the idea, anyway.

1. Get rid of the backgrounds. I think they look shit, but that's just me. Apart from that, they make the site take ages to load. This is a BAD THING.

2. On the images page, you appear to have simply shrunk the images using HTML, rather than resizing them in an image manip program. This makes the page take ages to load, and is a BAD THING.

Those are the most basicest things you can do that'll streamline the whole thing nicely. The rest is a bit advanced, and comes from the web design course I did.

3. Persistent navigation. The user should be able to get back to the home page from anywhere in the site, without having to use the back button on the browser. One way to do this is to have a menu (like the one on the homepage) that is there on every page. Or, you could have a row of links along the bottom or top of every page. This makes navigation of the site much easier. You could use frames and have a navigation frame, but this has problems of its own.

4. You could have a news page that can be easily and regularly updated, preferably as the home page. That way, if there is an update in the gigs or pics section, for example, the user will know about it as soon as they load the site.

5. Lose the intro page. It has no discernible use whatsoever, takes ages to load and probably puts people off waiting to look at the site.

I suggest you either a) learn HTML or b) find someone nice to do it for you. If you do the first, then this is a good place to look, and just nicking bits of code from other people's sites also works well. You also might want to investigate programs like Dreamweaver, which let you make websites in a similar way to using a word processor, but also let you get into the code if you want. You can get a demo and find out more here, or get the full version off Kazaa or something similar. I'd suggest learning the basics of HTML as well, 'cos you'll be able to do much more.
