The two pirates moved in on Link, restricted in the hallway, and therefore had to attack one at a time. The first came in heavy, half using brute strength, slashing upwards at the small child. His companion held back, waiting to see who triumphed from the attack before he did anything.
One of the smarter pirates on deck realized that Raistlin must be a magic user and therefore not strong on the physical attacks. He waved over five others and they all rushed Raistlin at once, four with cutlasses drawn and the other two whirling staffs.
Three pirates remained around Orin; they were the largest, but also the dumbest. Orin realized he couldn't use magic any more than anyone else and he needed some kind of protectoin. Of course, he also had about 30 more Drakins to back him up. The remaining four rushed to Sydney, three with staves and only one with cutlass and sword breaker.
While the fighting was going on, Miguel snuck out of the captain's cabin and made his way undetected down the hall where Raith had met with Geof. He crouched by the sailor and felt for a non-existant pulse. Then he searched him for the paper, signed by all the other sailors in a round robin. Miguel knew the other sailors and knew that they wouldn't consciously fight against Hornblower. He was a fair Captain and would die rather than see anything happen to his crew. He found the signed paper and looked it over. It wasn't remarkable in anyway, except that besides being a Thespian, Miguel could also sense traces of magic. Even though they were in a negative zone, he could still feel the magic that had surrounded it. It wasn't magic anymore, but he felt the passing of it. "So that's how he did it," Miguel whispered to himself. "But magic cannot exist here, then why are they still fighting against us?" He ripped the paper, knowing it wouldn't help anything, and stayed in the hallway. He was an actor, not a fighter, afterall. He would report his findings back to Hornblower when the fighting was done.
