Subject: Goodbye Rendezvous

“Five dollars for you and five for your vehicle” I was told. Sorry, but I wasn’t ready to depart with ten dollars of my hard earned cash for visiting the Rendezvous for an hour. While not unreasonable for boaters camping all weekend, ten dollars seems excessive for those who simply want to visit the rendezvous for a short time. It also makes it very unattractive for locals who simply want to come and check out the attraction. I made the mistake of inviting some friends interested in boating to drop by and check things out. I’m sure for a ten dollar entry fee, (and given there is no other place to park it amounts to this) those people and others are strongly discouraged from attending this event. For the limited number of vendors ten dollars is too much to pay for short term visitors. I turned around this year and am not planning to attend (or spend) next year. I hope something can be done to more reasonably accommodate short term visitors so that more people can enjoy this event without feeling gouged.
