Hindsight is 20/20,it's easy to critique anothers decision upon realization of the outcome.I am Canadian and am fed up with North American finger pointing and whining.I support the war,am from the west and cannot stand Jean Chretien ,however I stand behind him as a democratically elected leader.Protesters are generally fairweather supporters who have not researched the issue and once the media frenzy dies so does the cause.
The gov't N and S of the 49th are run by persons who care only of personal agenda. We must beleive in democracy whether the results are desireable or not.The war is not based solely on a power trip nor a desire for control of oil nor is it based on humanitarian aid. Some facts are:We need oil, life over ther can't be veiwed through our eyes,it would be nice to solve problem peacefully but saddam is irrational and unreasonable. To make a sign and join a march is simply stating someone made a decision you beleive is faulty, that's easy,at least they had the nerve to stick their neck out and make the call.Come up with a viable solution to a problem then use the democratic process to implement it. A person should only join a protest if it comes from the heart and not for entertainment,I'll bet pennies to dimes the 200,000 protesters in Montreal at the outset of the war would not do it ,say, on a weekly basis.I guess my point is there is no honor left,it is acceptable to take whatever side best suits your interest presently.
