Carried over from our main board...

Cheers was a boring place of losers. It never was busy enough to stay open. Rent, mortgage, taxes, licenses, permits, & insurance bills would in reality drive the place into bankruptcy during it's first month. There hardly ever was any music, & the only thing on their 1 or 2 TVs was some boring sporting event, that nobody ever got as excited about as they would in a real pub.

As with all sitcoms, they have very little to do with reality. It's like the sitcom, Seinfeld... A funny show, but in reality nobody would regularly hang out with characters like that. AMF, in reality, they'd probably sue, beat up, or kill each other before the first season was up, or at least all be in jail. The show takes real things & people we all deal with & stretches the goofy stuff to extremes... that's how you write good comedy.
