"And for America, there will be no going back to the era before September
the 11th, 2001 - to false comfort in a dangerous world."

Arguably the most important line in the speech. If the Left had their way,
including General Clarke, that's exactly what we would have done after the
Taliban was removed.

Thank you George W Bush for letting that happen.

Really? Tell me exactly what this quagmire in Iraq has done to make
us safer. Tell me exactly what Bush did BEFORE 9/11 to make us safer.

Basically, we can never leave Iraq, can we? If we do, Bush has to
admit the WMD's weren't there, because he'll just be leaving them
there unguarded. Great, that makes me feel safer.

Or else he got us into the war on a lie. Which doesn't make me feel
good at all.

Which is it?

What Bush is doing is using his failure leading up to 9/11 to justify
going to war with Iraq, which is utter bullshit. Iraq had nothing to
do with 9/11. Going to war with Iraq did nothing about it.

Where's Osama?

Oh, and where's Saddam? Did a bang-up job killing his 14 year old
grandson, booyah!

Where are the WMD?

Lots of questions, no answers.

The most important words of the speech were the words that are the
death knell of his presidency. 87 billion dollars.

He let it happen? How is he any worse than Clinton was? I'm not going to blame
either of them for it, but Bush had a year beforehand and Clinton had eight.

That's silly, Laz. There seemed to be WMDs and whether Saddam wanted people to
believe they were there or there were accounting errors or a lot of it was
distroyed when Clinton bombed there for four days, I think that the American
people can respect Bush erring on the side of caution and sending a message to
the world with this war. He doesn't have to stay there to save face; we'll be
there for a long time to get that democracy started, but our being there won't
have anything to do with Bush claiming to leave anything unguarded.

Wasn't he firing at US troops?
If I'm right and that's how it was, I won't shed a tear over him any time soon.

You really think that can hurt him? What would you rather he do, just pack up
and go?
